The King of Blue Graves

Long ago, a rakish sea-captain made the mistake of seducing three of Mazara’s most powerful women at once. When they discovered his deception, the trio came together as a coven and used dark magic to sink his ship at sea, killing the captain and all his crew. A year and a day later, a mysterious tower appeared overnight on the nearby coast, filled with the drowned dead. Soon after the appearance of the tower the captain, now a powerful undead, led an attack on the city with his drowned legions. Though he and his army were destroyed, it cost the city gravely and the deed has never been forgotten. The tower was sacked, but it’s lower levels were below water, and so remained unexplored.. until a rare conjunction of themoons caused extreme spring tides.

A band of adventurers were drawn to the opportunity to explore ruins untouched for nearly two hundred years. They fought a band of kobold brigands who had set up their lair in the stripped upper levels of the tower dungeon, declined to confront a giant crab dwelling in the lower levels, destroyed zombies animated by sahuagin shamans invading the crypts below, and solved the Black Cap’n’s riddle to gain access to his tomb. Alas, during the final battle to prevent the sahuagin from resurrecting the Black Cap’n with a human sacrifice the group was betrayed by one of their own. The warlord Tim and the ranger Wyrallin barely escaped with their lives. Wyrallin remained in Mazara to try and prevent another undead invasion, while Tim gathered new companions and set out to find another ruin to explore, led by clues gathered by his fallen dwarven companion.
