The Maiden's Dell
The Maiden’s Dell is a shadowed hollow between hills just beyond the walls of Three Forks, a large town on the intersection of the two main trade roads crossing the basin. It is named for the tomb at it’s center, the last resting place of a human warrior slain in the last Darkling uprising. Heavily overgrown and foreboding, it was used as a test of bravery by town’s youth, who would dare each other to creep to the heart of the dell and kiss the carving on the sarcophagus lid.
It was discovered during The Opening of the Way that the maiden’s tomb was part of an ancient arcane lock that held closed a portal to Mag Tureah, fortress of the Fomorians in the Evergloom. More specifically, the maiden’s magical sword was the key that held a faerie door set into the side of the nearby hill shut. Wyrallin, the wyldling warden, left her adventuring companions to stand guard over the dell and it’s secret to ensure no more of the fey manage to open the door.
